 MONDAY\, OCTOBER 26 6:30 p.m. – Reception 7:00 p.m. – Lecture Raynor M
emorial Library\, Beaumier Suites 1355 West Wisconsin Avenue Marquette Uni
versity campus Clouding History: Preparing for Storms Ahead The cloud has
long been a metaphor for what bridges heaven and earth\, the known and the
unknown\, beautiful one day\, ominous the next. Today\, it has taken on a
new dimension as we upload the evidence of human history into the digital
cloud. On one hand\, it promises endless possibility\, a rainbow of knowl
edge at our fingertips. On the other\, it threatens storms\, as powerful
“rainmakers” shape what we know\, how we learn and who gets access. As
scholars and stewards of cultural heritage\, how do we protect the real f
rom the hyperreal? Dr. Kim Sajet\, the Donna and Donald Baumgartner Direct
or of the Milwaukee Art Museum and former director of the Smithsonian Nati
onal Portrait Gallery in Washington\, D.C.\, will share her recent experie
nces and offer insights into how scholars might begin safeguarding the his
torical record for future generations. The Eleanor H. Boheim Distinguished
Lecture is generously supported by Mary Boheim Finnigan’s gift to endow
the lecture series. The lecture is free and open to the public. Click her
