‘What Are We Building?’ AI lecture series
Sensenbrenner Hall Eisenberg Reading Room
About this event
Marquette’s “What Are We Building? A Year-long Communal Discernment Exercise about AI” series will continue with two lectures on Monday, Nov. 16, in the Eisenberg Room in Sensenbrenner Hall. The university-wide initiative invites the Marquette community to consider questions surrounding artificial intelligence and the role of a Catholic university as a place for moral and spiritual discernment about emerging technologies. Dr. Taylor Nutter, assistant professor of theology at Mount St. Mary’s University, will present both lectures: Academic lecture and panel: “Magnifica Humanitas and the Structural Critique of Technocracy: Exploring the Longue Durée of AI,” at 3:30 p.m. The lecture is intended for an academic audience, though all are welcome. Public lecture: “‘AI Is Not Morally Neutral’: Pope Leo XIV, Technology, and Social Justice,” at 7 p.m. The lecture is open to Marquette faculty, staff and students, as well as the public. More information and additional events are available on the AI at Marquette website .
