Milwaukee's East Side runs along the lake from downtown up to the UW-Milwaukee campus and includes the dense corridor along North Avenue between Oakland and Murray. It's a college neighborhood with deeper roots — Oriental Theatre (an independent cinema), Stack'd, Von Trier, Landmark Lanes, and dozens of bars and restaurants drive most of the nightlife calendar.
